A Church Waiting for Her Resurrection
An Appeal for the Completion of St. Hannah Orthodox Church – Chepkor
In the quiet hills of Chepkor, where the morning sun rises over fields of maize and the faithful gather under trees for prayer, stands a humble foundation — the unfinished St. Hannah Orthodox Church.
Years ago, with hearts full of faith and hope, the small Orthodox community of Chepkor came together to begin building a house for God. They gave what they could — a few bags of cement, bricks molded by hand, and days of labor under the hot sun — dreaming that one day they would worship inside a holy sanctuary of their own.
But as time passed, the work slowed. Resources ran out. The floor was laid, yet the walls remained bare. The sound of hammers faded, and the songs of worship moved once again beneath the open sky. Rain and wind have beaten on the unfinished structure, yet the people’s faith has not been shaken.
Every Sunday, the faithful of St. Hannah gather in the open, praying before the cross, their voices lifted in hope:
“Lord, remember Your house and those who build it for Your glory.”
Today, the dream still lives, but it needs helping hands to rise again.
The completion of St. Hannah Orthodox Church is not just about cement and bricks — it is about restoring the heart of a community. A completed church will be a sacred place where:
Children are baptized and taught the Word of God,
Families find strength and comfort in prayer,
The Divine Liturgy is celebrated with dignity,
And the light of Orthodoxy shines brighter in this corner of Kenya.
To finish the remaining work — the plastering, windows , doors, and final touches — we need approximately Ksh. 514,300 (USD 4,200). What has taken years of waiting can now be completed through your love and generosity.
Your contribution, no matter how small, will help transform this unfinished structure into a living temple of God — a beacon of hope for generations to come.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.” — Psalm 127:1
Together, let us help the faithful of Chepkor complete what they began in faith.
Together, let us give St. Hannah Orthodox Church her resurrection.
